Thick Rug Pad
A guide to thick rug pads for hardwood and all hard floors
Thick Rug Pads

Thick rug pads are perhaps one of the more desirable rug pads for area rug and hard floor surfaces. The beauty of a quality thick rug pad is that it will protect your rug, protect your floor, add comfort, add warmth and reduce noise.

The definition of a thick rug pad varies from person to person. In reality, since there are so many of those almost paper thin waffle looking rug pads available, a rug pad that is 1/4 of an inch and thicker can be called a thick rug pad. Generally, thick rug pads today are made of some sort of felt. For a non slip thick rug pad, there is a felt and rubber, or rubber like, combination rug pad.

Thick rug pads can be used under any type of area rug, new or old, and on top of any type of hard floor from hardwood floors to tile floors and all floors in between. A  quality thick rug pad should be dense to protect rug and floor. A thick rug pad can also add comfort, reduce noise and add insulation against cold.
